Privacy Policy

Introduction

Analogly ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Analogly iOS application (the "App") and the analogly.app website (the "Site"). The short version: your photography data lives on your device, nothing we collect is linked to your identity, and we run our own infrastructure instead of handing your data to third-party analytics or advertising companies.

Information Stored Only on Your Device

Analogly stores your photography data — roll logs, frame data, camera and lens inventory, chemistry batches, and app preferences — entirely on your device using local storage (SwiftData). This data is never transmitted to our servers, and we have no ability to access it.

Camera Access

The App uses your device's camera for the Light Meter and Negative Converter features. Camera data is processed in real time on your device and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.

Location Data

If you grant location permission, the App uses your location to center the Lab Finder map and to optionally tag frames in your Roll Log. Your location stays on your device and is never sent to our servers. When you submit a lab to the community directory, the coordinates saved with that submission are derived from the lab address you type in — not from your device's location.

Information We Collect

We collect a small amount of data to operate the community features and understand how the App and Site are used. None of it is linked to your identity, and none of it is used for tracking.

Community Lab Submissions and Reports

If you submit a film lab through the "Submit a Lab" feature, the business information you provide (lab name, address, services, mail-in availability, and notes) is stored on our servers, reviewed by us, and — once approved — shown to other users. If you report a community listing, the report (the listing concerned and the reason you select) is likewise stored so we can review it. Submissions and reports are anonymous: no account, name, device identifier, or contact information is attached to them.

Anonymous Usage Analytics (App)

To understand which tools are actually used, the App records anonymous usage events — for example "app opened," "timer started," or "light meter opened" — along with the app version. These events contain no user identifiers, no device identifiers, no location, and no content from your logs. They cannot be linked to you, individually or in aggregate, and we built this system ourselves rather than embedding a third-party analytics SDK.

Website Analytics (Site)

The Site runs self-hosted, first-party analytics. When you visit a page we record the page path, the referring domain, a two-letter country code, and a random identifier stored in your browser's local storage so repeat visits can be counted without identifying you. We do not record your IP address, we use no third-party analytics services, we set no advertising or cross-site cookies, and we honor your browser's "Do Not Track" setting by not recording your visit at all.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not require account registration or login.
• We do not collect names, email addresses, or phone numbers (unless you email us yourself).
• We do not embed third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs in the App or the Site.
• We do not serve advertisements.
• We do not sell or share data with third parties.
• We do not use cookies or similar technologies for tracking or advertising.

Service Providers

We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run Analogly. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes:

• Supabase hosts our database — community lab submissions, reports, and the anonymous usage events described above.
• Resend delivers our internal email notifications (for example, when a listing is reported, the report contents are emailed to us).
• Vercel hosts the Site.
• Apple — the App uses MapKit to display maps and Apple's geocoding to convert a submitted lab address into map coordinates. Apple's own privacy policies govern that processing.

Data Security

Your photography data is protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and device encryption). The anonymous data we store server-side is encrypted in transit, protected by row-level access controls, and writable by the App only — nothing stored on our servers can be read back by other users except approved lab listings.

Data Retention and Deletion

Data on your device is yours: delete individual entries in the App or uninstall it entirely, and it is gone — we retain no copy. Approved community lab listings are retained so the directory keeps working for everyone; anonymous usage events are retained in aggregate to guide development. Because submissions and events carry no identifiers, we cannot connect them to you — but if you submitted a lab listing and want it corrected or removed, email us and we will take care of it.

Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
