For more than a decade, the film in the yellow boxes reached you through a licensing maze. That era is ending: Eastman Kodak - the Rochester company that actually coats the film - is selling directly again, and it's been busy.
The timeline
- October 2025 - Eastman Kodak announces direct film sales for the first time in over a decade, opening with a brand-new consumer color pair: Kodacolor 100 and Kodacolor 200, a name pulled straight from the family-album era.
- Since then - Gold, UltraMax, Tri-X, Ektachrome E100, and Ektar have rolled into the new Eastman-distributed packaging.
- March 2026 - two professional lines arrive: Ektacolor Pro and Ektapan.
- May 2026 - large format and bulk rolls join the lineup.
Old friends, new names
